Our Big Drag Movie

The shoot date for our BIG drag cinematic masterpiece, Temple of Poon, is set for the end of July!  It’s incredibly exciting and now the clock is ticking. We still need to raise funds to make this happen. This is a call out to anyone who has ever wanted to be a film producer or anyone who wants to invest in the drag community of San Francisco. Come make history with us! We will be employing 82 performers from the LGBTQ+ community in front of the camera and many more behind the scenes as designers, technicians and coordinators. And while that’s plenty on it’s own, the bigger picture is that we will also be putting drag on the big screen and then small screens nationally, even in the states that are ruthlessly trying to eradicate us. Drag is not a crime. Let’s make some noise! AND...it’s going to be REALLY FUNNY, if I do say so myself.

We have been working at a fevered pace, with the help of the SF Film Commission and in collaboration with Oasis Arts, to create a midsize soundstage in San Francisco where many of the scenes will be filmed. We’re almost there! Temple of Poon will be the first production in the new space; with the goal then to offer the space to local LGBTQ+ filmmakers at subsidized rates or as grants.

If you aren’t in a position to invest or would rather make a tax deductible donation you can do so HERE, through GiveButter (https://givebutter.com/c/TempleofPoon), or you can mail a check made out to Oasis Arts with Temple of Poon in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to: Oasis Arts PO BOX 410882, SF CA 94141

Other in-kind donations we need…

Vintage 70’s Cars
Vintage houses or apartments to use for filming

The "Poon" pitch deck is available upon request and I’m happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you to all the current producers and those who have donated.  And thank you all who continue to support what we do!  Here’s to the power of drag and to keeping it visible and accessible!
