San Francisco is home to a very large, diverse queer community, and is a Mecca for people all over the world as a place of inclusion and safety for the LGBTQ+ community. While there’s no shortage of queer events and venues to visit, it’s harder to find those locations and parties that are geared towards lesbians and non-binary and trans people. Queer women and Trans / GNC queer people aren’t often centered in spaces or parties, and so many venues and events that closed or ended during the pandemic have been unable to bounce back. This blog post is an attempt to round up some of the current venues, parties, and communities that do center & uplift the queer community, besides cis gay men*
*- we love our cis gay male community, we do! and there’s lots of parties that, intentionally or unintentionally, cater to that demographic and attendees generally make up that demographic. the goal of this list is to identify other queer parties with more women, trans folks, non-binary individuals, etc.
CLUB MONA - Quarterly at Oasis on Friday nights, you can visit CLUB MONA. Mona's 440 Club was the first lesbian bar to open in San Francisco in 1936. We honor the queer history in our city with our party by the same name! Club MONA is a space for queer women, lesbians, and those that love them to meet, dance, and party! While Club MONA centers women in their events, everyone is welcome at Club MONA!

REBEL KINGS OF OAKLAND - a drag show that puts KINGS first! This is a great drag show to see drag excellence in its many forms, and to see seasoned professionals as well as newbies take the stage. Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday night, catch them at White Horse Bar in Oakland, the oldest operating gay bar in the nation. @rebelkingsoakland
