Long Live Oasis!
We did it! You did it! You saved Oasis! You are Oasis. Three weeks ago things looked pretty bleak for the future of the club. That has turned around as of Saturday March 6th when the telethon plus advanced donations took us over 250K. I’m still so blown away by the support around Oasis and what it represents. One thing I’m sure of - our community shows up - they do it with heart, sparkle and love. When that exists there is literally nothing we can’t do. Remember this. I feel so deeply honored and grateful for everyone that had a hand in the telethon, from the team that worked so hard behind the scenes to pull it off, to every fabulous performer that graced the stage, sent in testimonials, created digital numbers, and answered phones - to those who offered auction items, who dropped off food to keep us going, to the media that covered this wacky idea, to everyone who amplified the message, and finally to the over 2.5K people who donated. ALL of you changed the course of the future for Oasis and for nightlife, specifically queer nightlife in San Francisco. You are all stars! A good portion of the proceeds will go to back rent, debt and bills that we accumulated over the year we’ve not been able to be open. The remainder is a safety-net for the future so that we can hold on until the day comes to finally open to full capacity. Any extra funds will be invested back into the space so that when we do open you will have an even more fabulous experience. Thank you, Jim Provenzano, for the great play-by-play of the epic event. The fundraising campaign is live for a few more days, so if you still want to participate, you can! www.givebutter.com/saveoasis
